چکیده

The production of kanamycin by three species of Streptonbyces and four fermentation media was studied. Streptomyces canus in medium No. 2 gave the highest yields of kanamycin aftrr 72 hrs. of fermentation. The presence of both molasses and glucose in the fermentation mcdium was an important factor for the production of kanamycin. The best concentration of molasses and glucose were 15.0 and 10.0 g/l, respectively. Replacement of peptone by equal amounts of inorganic and organic nitrogen sources was not suitable for the production of kanamycin, and peptone in a concentration of 5.0 g/l gave the best results.

Utilization of carbon and nitrogen sources by Streptomyces kanamyceticus for kanamycin production.

To select a suitable synthetic medium for kanamycin production, we tested a number of carbon and nitrogen compounds for their effect on growth of Streptomyces kanamyceticus ATCC 12853 as well on kanamycin production. Galactose was found to be the most suitable carbon source, though dextrin, soluble starch, and potato starch gave moderate yields. Sodium nitrate and glycine were adequate nitrogen...

Metabolic network analysis of Streptomyces tenebrarius, a Streptomyces species with an active entner-doudoroff pathway.

Streptomyces tenebrarius is an industrially important microorganism, producing an antibiotic complex that mainly consists of the aminoglycosides apramycin, tobramycin carbamate, and kanamycin B carbamate. When S. tenebrarius is used for industrial tobramycin production, kanamycin B carbamate is an unwanted by-product. The two compounds differ only by one hydroxyl group, which is present in kana...

Mineral nutrition of Streptomyces kanamyceticus for kanamycin formation.

Kanamycin production by Streptomyces kanamyceticus ATCC 12853 requires magnesium sulfate and potassium phosphate at concentrations of 0.4 and 1.0 g per liter, respectively. The optimal concentrations of Fe and Zn for production of kanamycin are 0.25 and 0.575 mug/ml, respectively, whereas Mo at 0.04 mug/ml allows maximal cellular growth and antibiotic synthesis. Mn and Ca are without any effect...

Draft Genome Sequence of Streptomyces sp. M1013, a Close Relative of Streptomyces ambofaciens and Streptomyces coelicolor

We report the draft genome sequence of Streptomyces sp. M1013, a strain isolated from the Medicago arborea rhizosphere in Izmir, Turkey. An average nucleotide identity (ANI) analysis reveals that this strain belongs to the same species as Streptomyces canus ATCC12647 and is closely related to Streptomyces ambofaciens and Streptomyces coelicolor.

Cloning of the kanamycin resistance gene from a kanamycin-producing Streptomyces species.

A kanamycin-producing strain, Streptomyces kanamyceticus ISP5500, is resistant to kanamycin. A kanamycin resistance determinant was cloned from S. kanamyceticus into Streptomyces lividans 1326, using the plasmid vector pIJ702. The resulting plasmid, pMCP5, could also transform Streptomyces lavendulae S985 and Streptomyces parvulus 2283 to kanamycin resistance. Transformants carrying pMCP5 were ...
